Moonstar stood on the edge of the cliff. The wind blew gently against her fur, just waiting for something to happen. Moonstar came to Peace Place to think about things on her own time, but who knew what would happen at Peace Place? Wierd things happened at Peace Place, and only Starclan could explain them. Maybe Moonstar was waiting for more excitement? Maybe she was hoping to meet a cat...
Moonstar sighed. She would never get a mate. No tom would ever be her mate, she was too powerful. Moonstar was a leader, and leaders probably scared warriors. Moonstar wished she could have fallen in love before she became leader, so she could have at least one cat that was loyal to her heart, if no others were. Sure, she had some friends like Lightningclaw, but friends and mates were different things... Moonstar needed someone she wanted to spend her life with, and in Starclan. Lightningclaw was her closest friend, but Moonstar wanted a mate...
Moonstar looked out on the fields that Peace Point overlooked. She watched the wind roll over the hills. Some of the breezes blew across her beautiful silver fur. The nearly- full moon made her blue eyes sparkle in the dark, yet it wasn't completely dark. It was also light out at the same time.

Heartflight slowly put paw after paw down, wandering aimlessly down the edge of the cliff. It was late evening, and the wind was starting to become rather chilly, but the MountainClan tom didn't notice; his mind was starting to drift, away from he cliff and into the clouds.
It was nice to be alone. Don't get him wrong, Heartflight loved spending time with his Clanmates, but the hubbub of camp often got tiring, and he hadn't had a lot of time to himself since becoming Irispaw's mentor. Most of his time went to training her, something that could get quite frustrating when she refused to kill prey.
The wind blew again, as though annoyed the it was being ignored; Heartflight's ginger fur ruffled, blowing every which way, just as the slanting rays of moonlight hit his pelt; suddenly he seemed to be glowing bronze from head to tail.
Continuing his slow but steady walk, Heartflight ignored this as well.
The one thing he didn’t ignore was the scent of another cat; ForestClan, undoubtedly. Shrugging to himself, Heartflight picked up his pace, directing his paws toward the she-cat. As he drew closer, he began to make out the cat’s form; a gorgeous silver tabby stood looking over the hills. He caught his breath and stood admiring her for a moment, then went on again. When he was a few fox-lengths away, he finally recognized her.
“Moonstar, is that you?” Heartflight kept his voice soft, not wanting to startle ForestClan’s leader-just let her know he was there.

Moonstar jumped, then turned around. Then she saw it was a Mountainclan tom. Moonstar recalled meeting him once as a warrior... Heartflight it was. "Oh, hello Heartflight. I didn't know you were there." she meowed. Moonstar wondered what he was doing here. But it was a free-cat's land. No one cat owned it.

Moderately surprised that ForestClan's leader remembered his name, Heartflight padded forward. "Well, I didn't know you were here, either, until just now-so we're even. The MountainClan warrior smiled at Moonstar, sitting down beside her; as he did so, her shifted into another shaft of light, and his fur lit up again. "Gorgeous night, isn't it?"

"Yes, it truely is. It as if you are in Starclan, being on this cliff. The stars seem so close that you can touch them... Like in Starclan," Moonstar meowed as she looked at the many stars. They were shining bright over the sky. The moon seemed like a giant diamond in the sea of crystals.

"It is-though let us dearly hope none of us truly touch the stars for a good, long time." Heartflight paused for a moment; it was so easy, looking at those shining jewels, to forget that they had once been living cats, cats who had died and been torn away from everything they had known throughout their entire ife.
Not wanting to linger on such morbid thoughts, Heartflight carried on. "It's just so much more peaceful here than it is back at camp. Like the rest of world has just dissapeared, for as long as you want it to have." Heartflight directed his gaze upward, staring up at the brilliant stars. The stars were shining brightly tonight; it seemed, somehow, that they were closer than usual tonight, in a way that had nothing to do with the height of the cliff he stood on. Were his ancestors trying to tell him something, perhaps? Or was he imagining things?

Moonstar nodded. She meowed sadly, "Yeah, I too came here to relax and think about things, without worrying about the clan. There have been two deaths recently..."

Heartflight nodded at Moonstar's first comment. "It is, isn't it? I haven't had much time to myself since I became Irispaw's mentor..." The ginger tom sighed as he thought back through his past few moons with his apprentice. "I love her to death, but I honestly just can't understand that one sometimes. She's a deadly fighter, but she hates injuring others, even her enemies-she won't even kill prey half the time!"
Heartflight instantly felt bed as Moonstar continued on. Completely forgetting that she was another Clan's leader, the MountainClan tomstepped forward and pressed his nose into her shoulder in sympathy. "I'm sorry-no Clan deserves that."

Moonstar relaxed as his nose was pressed onto her fur. "Well, a kit died from a rouge, then an apprentice had died from a mountainclan apprentice named Windpaw... he wouldn't tell me his mentor's name though," Moonstar meowed. "I hold no grudge against Mountainclan, only this cat..." Moonstar sighed then looked at the stars. "I guess some cats in Mountainclan don't like to kill," she meowed as she referred to Heartflight's comment about Irispaw.
Moonstar smiled at the thought of a cat that hated to kill, even prey. Moonstare was slightly relieved that her apprentice, Ravenpaw, didn't mind killing prey, even though she could stand to learn a few manners to outside cats, especially kittypets. Moonstar didn't care for kittypets, but they were cats too, so they didn't deserve utter cold.

(OOC- Sorry this took forever. I've spent ages trying to make this post batter, and have had little success... I really, really hate this post.) Heartflight was slightly reluctant to take his nose away from Moonstar's fur; it seemed, somehow, right for him to be there beside her. Shaking his head a little and focusing on the ForestClan leader's fur, the tom managed to pull back and sat there, gazing sadly at the other cat. Dipping his head as Moonstar began describing the attacks, Heartflight murmured his sorrow. "Rouges-you never know what they'll do." Then the silver she-cat began talking about the other death-an apprentice killed by a cat from his own Clan-and the ginger cat's head shot up. "Windpaw, Wind-Windpaw!" Heatflight was suddenly involuntarily growling. "I never liked that one, but I never thought he'd-"Suddenly the MountainClan tocat stopped, realizing that his claws were out and scraping away at the ground without his even noticing it. Sheepishly Heartflight sheathed his claws, then sighed. "I'm sorry-I shouldn't have reacted that badly. It's just... I don't know. I just can't believe that an apprentice-even that apprentice-would jaunt over to another Clan, pick a fight, and end up killing a peer." The ginger tom sighed again, licking his chest fur back into place with a few quiet licks, just to have something quiet to do. Then he looked up agian, his eyes still troubled. "Next thing we know, it'll be all over the Clans, and either we'll have a war or someone will decide to kill Windpaw." Heartflight gazed upward again, staring dismally at the ever-brightening stars. StarClan, why must this sort of thing happen?

"No, Forestclan won't attack Mountainclan. Some of the kits and apprentices that were close to Foxpaw will hate Mountainclan, but I wouldn't think it would be fair if we punished a whole clan for one cat's evil behaviors." Moonstar sighed and looked at the stars. She then looked back down at the tom.
Moonstar's eyes were teary eyed. "And the worst part is, I don't know if I regret the death of Foxpaw... he had recently done something to another she-cat that made me so mad. I wished Starclan would do something to this tom, but I never expected him to... die." At this point, the tears had already started to fall. Moonstar felt terrible that she thought that. She wondered what her clan would think if she was telling a Mountainclan cat this, but Moonstar felt that she could trust Heartflight.

"Thank you." Heartflight's eyes were brimming with gratitude and sympathy as he gazed at Moonstar, standing there on the ever-darkening cliff. "I assure you, I'll see to it that Windpaw is punished. Whatever happens, he won't get off of this easily." The MountainClan tom sighed as he though of what this would mean; Windpaw, and possibly some of his friends, would hate him for telling MountainStar about this. Still, though, it had to be done. You didn't kill another cat with no precedent and get away with it.
"Oh, Moonstar." Heartflight padded a little closer to the leader, hoping that his company would help soothe her a little. "He ran off on her, didn't he? I know what that's like." Heartflight's eyes were suddenly bitter, and he turned away a little. "Had a she-cat ditch me when I was an apprentice. Right then and there, I vowed never to do it myself." The ginger tom turned back again, his mind focused back on Moonstar's difficulties. "You're right, though-he didn't deserve that." Heartflight leaned forward again, this time touching his nose to the she-cat only briefly before pulling away.

Moonstar looked at Heartflight with her big, blue, teary-eyed eyes. He was comforting her so much right now. Heartflight was such a nice tom, nicer than any other tom to her. Moonstar gently leaned on him, and one tear rolled down her cheek, and no more tears fell.
Moonstar then meowed, "I'm sorry to hear it," reffering to what happened to him as an apprentice. "And this apprentice, he made out with another she-cat just to make his mate jealous, and she would love him more... It wasn't fair..." Moonstar meowed.

Hearflight breathed out a silent sigh of relief as Moonstar's tears stopped falling; he licked his tounge out once, smoothing te fur on her forhead back down. Other than that, the tom simply sat there, allowing the ForestClan leader to rest against him. It felt nice, just sitting here with her; even under the awful circumstances, Heartflight couldn't help but be glad to be here-here, of all place, with Moonstar.
"Don't be-it wasn't your fault." Heartflight's eyes softened as he gazed over at the silver tabby sitting beside him. He then pricked his ears again, listening to what Moonstar was saying. The MountainClan tom sighed, his head drooping a little as he thought. "What is it that makes cats do crazy things like that? Nobody deserves to be treated like that, and yet cats run around doing it all the time."

Moonstar sighed. It felt good to be resting on Heartflight. He was such an understanding tom, and she doubted she could have told any other cat all that. "I don't know..." she meowed. Why did cat's treat others like that? It wasn't fair at all. "It isn't fair..."
Just then, Leopardstar ran, well more floated, up the hill to the two cats. Moonstar! With a tom from Mountainclan! "Moonstar!" Leopardstar snapped, completely startiling the Forestclan leader.
Moonstar jumped and turned around. "Leo-leopardstar?" Moonstar asked, unbelieving her eyes. Moonstar had jumped away from Heartflight.
"Well, when you were here getting cozy with Mountainclan, Shadow launched an attack on Forestclan camp!" Leopardstar snapped. She couldn't believe the warrior that she made leader was flirting with some tom when Forestclan was under attack.
Moonstar looked at Heartflight, torn between him and the clan, and Leopardstar meowed, "Come on!"

Hearflight nodded softly, trying not to disturb Moonstar. "If life was fair, all our problems would have been solved a long time ago." The tom sighed, and was about to speak again when a new cat ran up to them.
Heartflight nearly jumped out of his skin as the StarClan cat snapped at Moonstar; luckily, the ForestClan leader had already moved away by then and he didn't knock her over. For a moment the ginger cat stood, gaping at Leopardstar, then composed himself and nodded to both the deceased leader and the live one.
"Leopardstar, Moonstar, if it's of no consequence to you, I'd like to fight. Shadow is the enemy of all four Clans." Heartflight's claws extended as he spoke, sinking into the ground before him. And yet at the same time... There was still a lingering pull on his mind, a pull having to do with silver fur and blue eyes. Heartflight stole a glance at Moonstar, then shifted his gaze back to Leopardstar.
Is it just that you want to fight Shadow-or is there someone you want to fight for?

Ooc: Was that a thought? Or what? Lol, I'm confused. Bic: Moonstar nodded. "We'll leave right away," she meowed to the Starclan leader.
Leopardstar nodded and disapered. Leopardstar wondered if these two cats were really going to leave and save Forestclan.
Once Moonstar saw Lepoardstar had left, she meowed, "Are you sure you want to come? I would kill myself if a Mountainclan cat died in a Forestclan fight." What Moonstar really thought was I don't want you to get hurt. Are you sure you would risk your life for my clan? although she never would be able to say tat to a cat- she was too scared.

(OOC-Yes, that was Heartflight thinking to himself. Italics are almost always thoughts. Including the last sentence of this post.)
Heartflight dipped his head to Leopardstar as she dissapeared, still reeling from the shock of seeing the StarClan leader pop up. When her imager was gone, the MountainClan tom turned to Moonstar.
"Of course I am!" Heartflight stared at the silver she-cat, not willing to back down. "Shadow is the enemy of all the Clans, not just ForestClan. Besides, I can't just stand down when I know cats are getting hurt." He flicked his tail in the general direction of ForestClan. "Come on, let's go."
Besides, Moonstar-I would do anything, I think, for you...
