(OOC-Yucky title. And post. But I couldn't think of anything else. ) There was cover here, at least. That was better. Good, in fact. But Mocha still couldn't feel optimistic. She knew she was holding everyone back, slowing the party down. And she couldn't bear not being able to move with everyone else, especially since it was Snowkit and her sisters from their destination, wherever that was. It was horrible. But there was no time to think about that now. The kits were coming. Soon. At least they had good timing-they had left Twolegplace far behind, so there was no danger from humans, dogs, or anything else that came from towns. But still. "You okay?"That was Songkit. Mocha nodded wearily, then sighed. "I'm fine. just tir-"A kick from one of the kits. Mocha stopped mid-sentence. "No. We need to stop."All three triplets understood and moved at once, with no communication between them; Twistpaw darted over to where Leopardstrom, Snowkit, and Darkswiral were walking, telling them that they "needtostopbecauseMochaisabouttohaveherkitsandcan'tkeepgoingandeveryonehastostopNOW," while Songkit and Eaglekit bounded ahead a few yards and began to gather moss, pine needles, and some fallen leaves. By the time Mocha had reached the two sisters, they had built p a sizable nest, which the brown she-cat sank into with a wear nod to the apprentices. Twistpaw came back, his message delivered, and the three immediately turned and ran off, efficient as always and, it seemed, poised for the hunt.

(Leopard's computer isn't working and she gave me permission to play her chars until she had the chance to get back on.
Also, as I will prove in the following post, I'm even worse at cat birthing posts than I am at wolf birthing posts, so I'll be skimming over most of the detail.)
It was harder than she would have thought, birthing. There was a lot of pain and a lot of blood, and Mocha could barely even see Snowkit, who sat next to her with a worried expression on her face, or the triplets, who had brought back a few pieces of prey and were now hanging about worriedly. Songpaw had dilivered a few herbs to Mocha, who had choked them down; there was nothing left but to wait.
Sbout half an hour and a pint of blood later, two kits were squirming at Mocha's side. The brown she-cat smiled proudly at them, her eyes filled with love
"Names, Mocha?" Snowkit's voice was amused and happy.
Oh, right, thought Mocha. Names.
"Shadow for the little black girl, Moon for the white tom."
Then an idea came to her. "No. Make that... Make that Shadowkit and Moonkit."
The two kittens made no sign that they understood their naming, but the apprentices bounced up and down, Snowkit smiled happily at her friend and the children, and Leopardstrom, standing a few feet away, smiled. Only Darkriver, with her mutter of "Oh, great. Now there's more of them," seemed unhappy.

(OOC-I'm bored. Time warp time!
*skips ahead two weeks*)
"Hey, Mookit! Sadowkit!" Mudkit bounced up and down happily.
"Mu-ki! Wha?" The two-wwek-olds scrambled over to their older "sibling", excitment sparkling in their eyes.
"I got a 'abbit eer!" Such a thing was in fact sitting at the older kit's feet as he spoke- but not for long. Shadowkit had snuck forward, hiding in the bigger cat's shadow, and grabbed it, producing mewls of annoyance and distress from her playmates as she stepped back out of the shadows to reveal her trickery.
"No far! We can'd do dat!" Moonkit protested loudly.
"'oo bad!" Shadowkit put a paw on the ear, her head raised proudly as she stared hautily at the two toms. But then there she let out her own shrill squeak of surprise; Moonkit had reached over and, with little difficulty, divided the soft flesh into three pieces with his claws. With a sigh, the young she-cat picked up each in turn, throwing one to each kit and keeping one for herself. All three ethen sat and batted their own prize about aimlessly.
"Do 'ou t'in' S'ade 'ill e'er 'ome?" Shadowkit's ears pricked with interest at her own question; she wanted to see this cat, whom she had heard- and told- many tales about for herself.
Mudkit looked up, a bit interested in the question of his father. "Dunno. Why?"
"Jus' t'in'in'. I wanna 'ee 'im."
"No!" Moonkit's reply was adamant and upset. "'E's bad, Sadowki, bad!"
"I s'pose."
But the impressed thoughts of determination and conquest remained in Shadowkit's mind.

(lol pretend shade has been here since 2 seconds after the time warp. XP)
Heartfeather sat distantly, somewhat far from the others. She gazed longingly at them, seeing how happy they seemed. She looked to Shade. A tiny sob began to build in her throat, but she held it back swiftly. She rose to her paws and padded slowly over to Mocha. She sat down slowly and murmured, "Were you a Clancat or a rogue?" She sniffed gently to test it herself. "You smell like a good rogue, with a bit of kittypet hidden." She stretched out warmly beside the queen. "I don't mean that in a mean way. Every kittypet would have been a Clancat or rogue if the Twolegs hadn't taken them or their parents. I hope you'll join a Clan soon. I'm in ForestClan if you want to live with me. Lightningclaw and her kits would love to meet you, I'm sure." She smiled softly.

Mocha jumped at the appearance of another cat, and took her eyes off the kits to turn to the newcomer. She listened to the other cat's words with a slightly confused expression on her face, wondering what was going on; each word befuddled her a little more, and she only barely managed to get the gist of what the cat was saying. "Yes, I- I'm a rouge..." She glanced around quickly, looking for support, but the other cats didn't seem to notice what was going on; she drew a brown paw over one ear self-consciously, her thoughts a little muddled. "I'll think about joining ForestClan. But I'm really more of a loner type. I don't do well around large groups."
***
" 'ey! I 'ell som't'in'!" Shadowkit's head lifted up, and she darted forward toward the smell of unfamiliar cats. Her brother followed right on her heels, Mudkit only a few paces behind, and together they ran to the newcomers.
Shadowkit halted only a few tail-lengths later; a tom had come into view, large and dark gray and powerfully built, and she somehow instincively knew who he was. As her two siblings turned to eye her curiously, Shadowkit took a step back into the shadows... and disappeared.
Invisible, silent, yearning to impress, she crept up to Shade, each paw gliding lightly over the ground and her fur constantly shifting to allow her to make use of its dark qualities. As Mudkit and Moonkit, still several foxlengths away, looked about for where she had gone, the kit snuck right up to the tom, waiting to appear from the shadows until she could literally pop up right in front of his face, dark eyes shining keenly.
"Ar' 'ou S'ade?"
