She nodded slightly. "You know, I always thought that I wouldn't be a Deputy, but until MountainStar called my name excitment and curiosity raged threw me. I thought that I could make a difference. Have I made a difference in MountainClan?" she said.

WhiteClaw saw FireWind run. She had a puzzled look on her face, then headed back to her Clan.

Rosethorn padded to the pond after they had left. She leaned down and drank some of the water. She closed her eyes and a terrible coldness come over her. Then her fur warmed. Everything was black. She felt like she was flying. Where was StarClan? Were they here to guide her through the dream? She stepped down from the air and looked around. Nothing was there. No ground, no familiar crunch when she stepped on the grass. Has StarClan abandoned them? She shivered and sat down. THen she remembered the fight at the Gathering. StarClan is mad! I know it! she thought. Rosethorn saw her sister being attacked. She knew it was a dream so she stayed where she was. Her eyes went wide when she saw who it was. THORN! She hissed under her breath. Fox was with them too. She quivered her whiskers. No StarClan cat had come. Everything faded and she tried to run to Firewind. Everything went cold again and she snarled in defiance. When she woke up her shoulders were cramped. Her jaw hurt too. Rosethorn looked into the pond and padded around it.

{ Late Last Night } Shadow padded as quietly as possible through the ferns and cattails to the edge of the lake. Once he was close enough to the shinings water, he licked up a few drops and laid down in the soft grass to let StarClan pull him into sleep. He felt someone grab his scruff but he refused to open his eyes. He opened them when the cat let go and he looked around. He was still at the edge of the lake, but a white cat with glowing paws and whiskers frowned down at him. "For a minute I thought you were Raven. But obviously, I thought wrong. Shadow, what are you doing here? You know StarClan disagrees with rogues." Shadow blinked inoscently up at Icestar. "The leader of a Clan gets nine lives, right? Well, I am the leader of a Clan. ShadowClan. I have warriors, apprentices, and kits. Our name is Clan, our members are Clan. Their anscestors reside in your sky, snuggled close among you and the other leader stars. WHy can't you accept us? Because we live in a cave? Because we have a bigger population? One of my first mates is the leader of OceanClan! Doesn't that give me right to being part of their forest?" Icestar shook her head regretfully. "You are the leader of a Clan, and you live in the Clan's forest, so there's nothing I can do to stop you from getting your nine lives." She glanced upward. "But since the full moon is out, I will only give you 8 lives." Shadow snickered. "I only needed 8. Thank you Icestar. I don't want a ceremony. I don't really want to see all the stars come swirling down. It will make me nausious." Icestar looked down at him, a grim expression on her face. "Shadowstar, leader of ShadowClan, you now have nine lives." Shadowstar grinned at Icestar. "Can I tell me warriors to still call me Shadow? I rather like that name." Icestar shrugged. "The 'star' part just lets you show off with your rank. Drop it if you wish." She refused to answer any more questions by throwing Shadow into the lake.
Shadow's eyes flew open and he gasped as he swam quickly back to shore. He shook the shining water out of his fur, murmured a quick thanks to the stars, and then dashed back to his cave.
